Concertgoers can look forward to a first-ever collaboration between Platinum-selling South African singer Lira and the internationally acclaimed Chamber Orchestra of Johannesburg.

The headline act will be musical direction of conductor Kutlwano Masote, who made his debut conducting the music of Todd Matshikiza and Ladysmith Black Mambazo at the 2006 Arts Alive Festival.

Also in the musical lineup is up-and-coming Afro-Soul songstress Malah, who collaborated with DJ Ken on the international hit Falling and won a Sama for her album Step Child.

Joburg's "Afropolitan" families can look forward to interacting with Kaya FM personalities like Bob Mabena and Mo-G and other friends of the station, while fun games and Zoo tours will keep the kids entertained.

"As a family station, we always strive to create experiences that are suitable for our Afropolitan audiences, and the Joburg Zoo is a perfect partner to this event," Mabena said.

"As the Home of the Afropolitan, we are certain that there could be no better way than spending a day with you mother at Joburg Zoo, admiring the beauty of nature and listening to good music."

Tickets cost R75 per adult and R45 for kids and pensioners. Gates open at 8am, and the concert gets under way at 10am. Share the fun using #KayaMothersDay.
