Musicians Pops Mohammed and Olu Femi will be providing the entertainment at the Northcliff Ridge Ecopark's annual VIP Bee-Eaters fund raising event on 1 November.

The event marks the annual arrival of the migratory birds at Northcliff Ridge, and is held to raise awareness of the urban ecopark that has been set up in the area. Money raised will be used to improve and preserve the park.

The event runs from 4pm until 9pm and includes talks by renowned bird expert Geoff Lockwood, author of Garden Birds of Southern Africa, and geologist Professor Morris Viljoen.  Radio personality John Robbie will be master of ceremonies for the evening.

The cost is R500 per person, which also includes rooftop drinks and a buffet – and, of course, an evening of bird watching.

There are 26 different species of bee-eaters, mostly found in Africa and Asia.

They can be recognised by their brightly coloured plumage and elongated central tail feathers. They have long downturned bills and pointed wings which make them look like swallows from a distance.

For more information or details on the event, e-mail or contact the Northcliff Ridge Ecopark on 011 678 0864.
