Voluntary Mounted River Rangers
The Voluntary Mounted River Rangers patrol riverine trails and parks on horseback. Their function covers a broad spectrum of activity which includes conservation, upliftment, security, education and eco-tourism. A true “Urban Safari” experience.
Environmental Conservation Development (ECD) of Johannesburg City Parks (JCP), envisages a network of trails over the entire metro area, serviced by rangers, operating out of bases situated on council-owned land.
The rivers involved would include:
NORTH FLOWING RIVERS :
The Jukskei & Klein Jukskei rivers,
The Sand, Braamfontein and Wilge- Spruits
SOUTH FLOWING RIVERS
The Klip River, Klipspruit and the Bloubosspruit
The open spaces would include :
Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve
Kloofendal
Alberts Farm
Johannesburg Botanical Gardens
