Employee Relations

This unit is charged with the responsibility of providing a co-coordinated labour relations service across the company.

The unit is positioned in such a way that it plays a pivotal role in the company by ensuring that departments adhere to labour legislation and applies discipline within the company’s defined conditions of service.

The unit strives at all times to promote good relationships between JCP and the recognized unions.

Collective Bargaining

Johannesburg City Parks recognizes the value of a positive relationship with labour unions. A Local Labour Forum (LLF) was established in 2003 with the two majority unions, South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) and Independent Municipal Allied Trade Union (IMATU).

The Local Labour Forum was established to facilitate speedy resolution of disputes and to promote a culture of collective bargaining to ensure a harmonious and productive labour environment.

The LLF is a medium utilized by both parties to promote a culture of good governance in relation to grievance and disciplinary procedures as prescribed in the LRA.

The forum is a structure that co-ordinates and promotes mutual respect between employer and labour to support employee wellbeing in the workplace.

The relationship between JCP and the two unions is regulated in terms of the Organisational Rights Agreement.
